Employee wellbeing has never been more important. The CIPD and Simplyhealth’s latest Health and Wellbeing at Work 2025 survey shows that UK employees now average 9.4 days of absence a year, the highest in over 15 years. Mental ill health remains the leading cause of both short and long-term absence, costing the economy an estimated £150 billion annually.
While it’s encouraging that 74% of organisations say senior leaders prioritise wellbeing, the research also highlights a major gap… too many businesses still act reactively, intervening only once employees are already unwell, rather than investing in prevention and resilience.
How Employee Wellbeing Links to Cloud Gateway’s Mission
At Cloud Gateway, we know that the wellbeing of our people is fundamental to our success. As a tech-enabled managed service provider, our customers depend on us to keep their critical operations running seamlessly. That includes some of the UK’s most vital organisations, such as the NHS and other healthcare providers, where reliability, security and resilience are not just important, but life-critical.
Take the NHS as an example. By securely connecting hospitals, GP surgeries and community care providers to essential applications and cloud platforms, we help clinicians access patient records in real time, share test results quickly, and collaborate more effectively across different parts of the system. The impact is direct: faster diagnosis, fewer delays, and better patient experiences, all of which support patient wellbeing and outcomes.
That’s why wellbeing isn’t a “perk” at Cloud Gateway. It’s part of how we work.
From hybrid flexibility and collaborative culture, to reducing unnecessary stress through better digital tools and ways of working, we’re committed to making sure our people can thrive. Because when our teams are supported, engaged and resilient, they are better able to innovate, solve problems, and deliver the robust, secure services that healthcare providers and other customers rely on.
The connection is clear: by looking after our people, we strengthen our ability to look after those who look after us all. The investment we make in wellbeing directly translates into fewer absences, stronger engagement, and higher performance – all of which ensure Cloud Gateway continues to be a trusted partner to the NHS and beyond.
Wellbeing at work isn’t just a “nice to have”. It’s a business-critical enabler of innovation, resilience and trust. At Cloud Gateway, it’s central to both our culture and our mission.
